New Year

It's the day after Christmas and I'm thinking about the year 2014.  It's going to be a big year for me.  It's the year my writing is going to take off. It's the year I plan to get a job I actually enjoy doing. It's the year I'm going to save up enough money to buy what I really want--my own farm.  It's the year I turn 31.

I'm also gonna write in this blog, dammit!  Topics will be all over the board, but no doubt will be interesting.  They'll cover topics such as writing, books and movies, music. My historical interests (I love old things), and my crafting and cooking experiments.  I might write about personal things like my cats and my quest to find myself and be happy.  I can't promise amazing content--I'm going to write what I want to write. I hope you'll want to read it. (For the record, I have been described as funny, clever, and a damn good writer, so I think you'll be amused.)

A note on the title:
"Rosie Lea" is cockney rhyming slang for 'tea', my favorite drink. (No, I don't know why the cockney dialect insists on making words longer and more incoherent instead of shorter and more concise like the rest of the world.)  A curio cabinet (in the sense I'm using it) was a type of collection in Renaissance Europe. It usually consisted of a room or closet full of natural history pieces (real, imagined, and mislabeled), archaeological finds, art, and random junk in general. As I will be writing about "random junk" it seems perfect to name my blog after one of these rooms.
